Welcome,

We are pleased to announce that version 2.0 of the multi-hazards handguide is now ready for distribution. The “School Emergency Management Guide for Teachers and Staff” has been renamed to replace the “Crisis Guide” language as requested by DOE to reflect the comprehensive drills and exclude the harsh terminology that “Crisis” represents. You will also notice we have organized the drills in the order of occurrence to better facilitate ease of use.

This handguide is the most comprehensive piece of literature to be introduced to the school emergency preparedness market in recent memory. The guide was developed for “Teachers and Staff” by experts in school safety with first responder experience. It has been focus grouped at the state and federal levels by school safety teams, nurses, administrators, safe and drug free coordinators, emergency management and homeland security personnel.

As you will note, the handguide is a conveniently sized 4-page booklet/slidechart (see icon at right) covering the most often used school drills and protective actions. The handguide is intended to assist all adults responsible for school children during emergencies. It serves as a cue card to help trained staff keep a clear and calm mind, essential to a timely effective response, when trying to execute the necessary steps during the “critical first ten minutes” of an emergency. This handguide is not intended to replace your safety plan but to compliment the one you have and reassure parents that your school is prepared for emergencies that threaten the well being of their children.

Customization of this guide, which currently meets federal NIMS standards, is available in run lengths of 20,000 or more. Otherwise orders are accepted by the case for our standard guide, with areas to write-in or apply a label, for any alterations you might want to incorporate during orientation with your staff.

Have a safe school year!
